Note: Please be advised that making changes to System Settings if done incorrectly can result in system malfunction. Please use caution when editing these settings. If you need to make changes but are not sure about how to go about it, please contact your program's Pika administrator for assistance.

Site Settings Header

Program Name: This is the name of your program or organization. Editing this field will result in changes to the footer bar of each Pika screen. On the blue footer, to the left of the search bar, you will notice that your username appears followed by an "@" symbol, which is followed by the program name. For example, it might read administrator @ Pika Legal Services. Assuming the "Program Name" field was changed to "Pika Legal Team," the same footer text would now read "administrator @ Pika Legal Team."

Administrator E-mail: This is the e-mail address of your organization's Pika administrator. Please do not change this address unless your administrator e-mail address has changed.

Authentication Label: This is the name that appears on the welcome screen when you log in to Pika. Editing this field will change the text on the welcome screen.

Time Keeping Round-off Interval (Minutes): When keeping track of time in Pika, this is the minimum interval of time that will be accepted by the system. The system default is 15 minutes. Using the default setting, if you enter 10 minutes of billable time in either the Case Notes or Timeslip functions, the system will automatically round up and store the time entered as 15 minutes. The system always rounds up, so if 16 minutes are entered, the system will store the value as 30 minutes. If your organization keeps track of time in greater or lesser values (say, 5 minutes or 30 minutes), you can change this setting to match your organization's protocol.

Hours Ahead/Behind Server's Time Zone: All Pika servers operate on Eastern Standard Time (GMT - 5:00). If your organization is located outside EST, change this setting to ensure that all times recorded in the system are stored properly. For example, if your organization is located in California, use the drop-down menu to change this value to "3 Hours Behind."

Install Settings

Web Site Base Path: This is the base (or "home") directory of your pages on the Pika web site. This is where your web browser "looks" for Pika files. Do not make changes to this path unless there have been server changes that warrant doing so. Contact your Pika administrator if you have any questions.

Base Directory for Pika Files: This is the base/home directory for Pika files on the server. Incorrectly changing this path will result in system malfunction. Do not make changes to this path without approval from your Pika administrator.

Database Settings

Server Name: This is the name of the server where your Pika files are stored.

Database Name: This is the name of the database that stores information for your organization.

Username/Password: This is the login information Pika uses to access information in your organization's database. Do not make changes to this information unless instructed to do so by your site administrator.

Enable Logins: Checking this box allows all approved Pika users at your organization to log in to the system. If you need to disable logins for any reason (such as routine maintenance), you may do so by un-checking this box.

Autonumber Each New Case: When this option is selected, Pika will assign a unique case number to each new case when it is opened. If your organization prefers to manually assign case numbers, uncheck this box to disable auto-numbering.

Web Accelerator: Choosing this option turns on compression in the system, which makes file sizes smaller. It is best to leave this box checked unless instructed to change this setting by your Pika administrator or Pika support.
