Admin Manual - Reporting with Microsoft Access
From PikaDocs
If you have not set up ODBC on your computer according to the instructions in Installing an ODBC Connection, please do so before proceeding.
- Create an new, empty Access database file.
- Choose File -> Get External Data -> Link Tables from the Access menu.
- A file selection window will appear. On the Files of Type menu, choose "ODBC Databases ()".
- Another window will appear, listing available ODBC connections. Choose your Pika connection, then click OK.
- Another window will appear, listing all available tables on the Pika database. Click the Select All button, then Click OK.
- Linked tables will now be created in the Access database. Some tables may request you to select a unique identifier. If this happens, just click Cancel, it is not required.
- Access is now connected to the Pika database on the MySQL server. You can now run reports and queries just like you would with a Access database. This Access file will work on any PC that has MyODBC installed and the Pika ODBC connection configured.
